Christina Caron is a lawyer, ᑲᐃᔨᒥᑦ kaaiyimit in Naskapi or kaimisht in Innu-aimun, specializing in Aboriginal law, and holds a Master of Laws degree. In her practice, Mrs. Caron accompanies several First Nations in various initiatives aimed at strengthening their political institutions, most notably through community consultations, constitutional development, negotiation of self-government agreements and the drafting of legislation.

Mrs. Caron is particularly well known and sought after for her expertise in Indigenous governance, a complex field at the crossroads of Indigenous legal traditions and Canadian law.

In addition to her practice as a lawyer, Mrs. Caron teaches Aboriginal law to future jurists at Université Laval’s Faculty of Law. She also contributed to the development of the new compulsory course on Indigenous legal traditions and issues. In addition, Mrs. Caron is co-editor of the chapter entitled Droit des Autochtones in the Collection de droit by the Quebec Bar School.

The First Nations who work with Mrs. Caron appreciate her ability to teach and explain complex issues related to Aboriginal Law. Mrs. Caron travels frequently to various Indigenous communities and firmly believes that this cultural immersion is necessary to enrich her legal practice.
