Marc-Olivier Laporte has been a labour and employment lawyer at Cain Lamarre since 2013. He has in-depth expertise in a variety of sectors, including information technology, manufacturing, food processing, transportation and insurance.
As part of his practice, Mr. Laporte advises and represents employers in complex labour relations issues, including the negotiation of collective agreements, restructurings, and termination of executive employment, as well as defending employers before Quebec civil and administrative courts. He also advises and represents a number of employers on various occupational health and safety issues. His ability to offer customized, innovative solutions makes him a valuable, highly sought-after adviser with his clientele.
Among some of his more notable achievements, Marc-Olivier Laporte has played a strategic advisory role for numerous companies during restructurings and acquisitions, providing them with effective legal and strategic solutions to ease the transition. Mr. Laporte works in both French and English. He advises and represents several multinational companies. As a result, Mr. Laporte frequently works with head offices located outside Canada.
In addition to his professional commitments, Mr. Laporte is an avid fan of American football and is actively involved in various social and community initiatives. Marc-Olivier Laporte regularly gives talks, most often for employer groups. Mr. Laporte also organizes monthly training and discussion sessions involving employer lawyers, union lawyers and decision makers. Mr. Laporte has taught labour law and negotiation at the Quebec Bar School.
