Pierre Gauthier

Called to the Quebec Bar in 1973, Pierre Gauthier has solid expertise in Administrative and Professional Law. He was Bâtonnier of Quebec City and then CEO of the Quebec Bar for 18 years. He has also served as Director of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Transport.
Mr. Gauthier draws on his experience with various professional orders, organizations and associations in regulatory, disciplinary and ethical matters, with a particular focus on governance and ethics. Mr. Gauthier is known for his ability to plan, draft and implement policies related to the missions of professional orders, as well as advising these organizations on issues of management, governance and ethics. Throughout his career, Mr. Gauthier has been involved in strategic planning and legal auditing, risk management and dispute management. His systematic approach to analyzing his clients’ issues enables him to identify the legal, financial and strategic impacts of each situation, and to offer tailored solutions.
Mr. Gauthier has a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Université Laval and is committed to giving back to the community by sitting on various boards of directors, including that of the Héma-Québec Foundation. He has also taught Professional Law and Ethics at the Quebec Bar School and given numerous lectures on the management of professional orders.
