Stéphane Gauthier

Stéphane Gauthier practices in all areas of litigation, including civil, commercial, administrative and criminal law. He has developed particular expertise in complex litigation cases where strategy is key. With a keen awareness of what makes each client’s situation unique, he offers strategic, preventive advice to avoid recourse to the courts. 

Mr. Gauthier is known for handling special and extraordinary proceedings such as injunctions, safeguard orders, contempt of court, appeals for judicial review and applications for declaratory judgment regarding issues of public and administrative law. As such, he supports, advises and represents professional orders and self-regulatory organizations, helping them to fulfill their primary mission of protecting the public. Equally passionate about the agricultural and agri-food industries, Mr. Gauthier is regularly involved in all types of proceedings and litigation, especially in connection with the Act respecting the marketing of agricultural, food and fish products. 

Before joining Cain Lamarre in 2002, Mr. Gauthier worked for Attorney General Bernard Roy et Associés in Montreal. His experience at the Ministère de la Justice du Québec has given him a thorough understanding of how government bodies operate.
