A tax professional, Marc Gendron has had a rich academic career. After completing a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, he went on to complete a master’s degree in applied finance at the Université du Québec à Montréal and a master’s degree in taxation at the Université de Sherbrooke.

His professional background is equally rich, which has allowed him to develop an expertise in taxation. More specifically, he deals with files involving trusts, wealth management, tax, financial and estate planning, tax reorganizations and real estate taxation. He is a major asset to our Montreal Tax Group. His clients come from the real estate, professional and consulting, and financial services sectors. His areas of expertise include private equity funds, real estate investment funds and family business transfers.

Mélanie Ruiz-Pardo

 Lawyer

A true asset to the Montreal office, Me Mélanie Ruiz-Pardo has a rich academic background. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Bordeaux in France and attended the Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands. She then obtained civil and commercial arbitration accreditation from the University of Sherbrooke and completed a master’s degree in business law at the University of Montreal. She also holds a Quebec Bar equivalent from the same university.

During her studies, Me Ruiz-Pardo was already recognized for her professional qualities. Indeed, she received a Graduate and Postdoctoral Excellence Scholarship in 2018 as well as an AquiMOB scholarship as part of an international exchange in 2014. In addition, she has participated in the Legal Clinic at the University of Bordeaux as well as the Student Legal Review at the University of Montreal. Her Master’s thesis dealt with the social responsibility of Canadian multinational corporations in the early days of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

Roxanne Roy

Lawyer

Me Roxanne Roy, a lawyer in the Quebec City office, is originally from Abitibi-Témiscamingue and a Essipit Innu First Nation member. She completed a Bachelor of Law degree at Université Laval in 2020. She obtained a certificate following her participation in a summer school on the geopolitics of energy and natural resources: energy transitions. During this training, she attended the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary and participated in the Graduate International Studies Program at Université Laval in 2019. She has a varied professional background that allows her to have a broad perspective on her present work.

Born into a family of entrepreneurs, Me Roy initially trained in arts, including theatre, film, and visual arts. Driven by a desire to understand the inner mechanism of the society in which we collectively evolve, she undertook studies in law.

Sarah-Maude Belleveille-Chenard

Lawyer

Me Sarah-Maude Belleville-Chenard holds a bachelor’s and a master’s by research degree in law from the Université de Montréal. She also pursued doctoral studies at McGill University’s Faculty of Law. Her hard work and thoroughness have earned her scholarships from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies of the Université de Montréal and from the Faculty of Law of McGill University.

Me Belleville-Chenard completed her articling in Haiti with Lawyers Without Borders Canada, before working for the municipality of L’Île-d’Anticosti, and then as a lawyer in a boutique firm located in Montreal. Now working in the Sept-Îles office, she is a real asset to our Indigenous Law Practice Group. Indeed, Me Belleville-Chenard has developed an expertise in Indigenous and Constitutional Law. The files she handles generally deal with ancestral rights, First Nations governance, litigation as well as land claims and specific claims. She has also developed an expertise in environmental law and litigation in an Indigenous context, particularly with respect to class actions and civil liability.

Stéphanie Destrempes

MStéphanie Destrempes holds a law degree from the Université de Montréal. She developed her expertise in franchise law, commercial and transactional law, as well as in bankruptcy and insolvency matters with two other law firms before joining the Montreal team as a lawyer and partner.

Me Destrempes represents franchisors and distributors in the restaurant, retail, service, healthcare, and wellness industries. With her extensive knowledge cumulated over the years and 360-degree vision, she assists her clients in the implementation of the business model, the development of infrastructure, the expansion of networks outside Quebec, implementing foreign networks in Quebec, trademark protection, transactions, network management and restructuring, issues between franchisor and franchisees, and the drafting of commercial agreements such as franchise, licence, affiliation, distribution, supply and securities agreements, commercial leases, and the purchase and sale of assets and shares.
