Julie Larouche practices primarily in the areas of intellectual property, entertainment, consumer protection, advertising and marketing law. She also has strong expertise in matters related to the Québec Charter of the French Language and liquor licensing at the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.

She advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including selection, protection, commercialization, acquisition, licensing, and franchising of IP assets. She manages trademark portfolios both nationally (Canada) and internationally, covering over 75 countries. Active for over 20 years within the International Trademark Association (INTA), Ms. Larouche relies on a strong and experienced international network of foreign associates, enabling her to effectively support her clients worldwide.

In the fields of marketing, advertising, and consumer law, Ms. Larouche drafts and reviews various agreements and rules, including those involving influencers, spokespersons, sponsorships, terms and conditions of sale, contests, and loyalty programs. She ensures that advertising campaigns—whether print, television, radio, or digital—comply with provincial and federal regulations. In entertainment law, she is frequently called upon to validate usage rights for third-party content (such as images and works) intended for inclusion in advertisements or new creative works.

Ms. Larouche and her team regularly conduct intellectual property due diligence in the context of business transactions, providing practical, risk-focused legal opinions.

As a bilingual lawyer practicing in Québec, Ms. Larouche has extensive experience with the province’s specific legal framework, including the Charter of the French Language—particularly its requirements regarding francization programs—as well as the regulations governing liquor license applications before the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux. She has supported numerous local and international companies in developing their francization programs and in negotiations with the Office québécois de la langue française.

Ms. Larouche’s experience as in-house legal counsel for Cirque du Soleil gives her a deep understanding of business realities from the client’s perspective, allowing her to craft practical legal solutions tailored to each client’s specific needs.
