Louis Ste-Marie

Louis Ste-Marie is a partner and member of the Cain Lamarre Board of Directors, and has been practising labour and employment law for over 30 years. He advises employers on a variety of issues, including collective and individual labour relations, labour standards, industrial accidents and occupational diseases, and occupational health and safety. His practice also covers human rights and freedoms and administrative law.

Mr. Ste-Marie regularly appears before administrative tribunals with jurisdiction over labour relations, as well as in civil courts. In recent years, Mr. Ste-Marie has been the primary spokesperson for several major organizations undergoing collective bargaining and mediation/conciliation. His pragmatic approach, in-depth expertise and ability to provide strategic and practical advice set him apart in his field.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Ste-Marie has taught courses on Labour Law, industrial accidents, occupational diseases and negotiation techniques at the Quebec Bar School for more than ten years. He has also taught occupational health and safety law at Université Laval’s Faculty of Law. His inclusion in the “Legal Lexpert” and “Best Lawyers in Canada” directories since 2011 attests to his excellence in the field.

After earning his Bachelor of Laws degree from Université Laval, Mr. Ste-Marie accumulated significant experience with a number of well-known firms before joining Cain Lamarre in 2012. In addition to his legal practice, he participates in a number of committees dealing with both management issues and strategic development at our firm. He is also involved in training and mentoring new professional resources. His workshops and lectures on Labour and Employment Law and Occupational Health and Safety Law reflect his dedication to the advancement of the profession.
