Member of the Barreau du Québec since 2022, Ms. Marie-Michèle Piquette, practices environmental law. She works primarily on cases involving natural resources and land use for a diverse client base.
Ms. Piquette holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Sherbrooke and completed a master’s degree in environmental management in 2021, which allowed her to deepen her understanding of environmental issues. As part of her master’s program, which included a semester in Belgium, she took courses in environmental chemistry, social acceptability, ecological value assessment, and climate change, enabling her to better understand her clients’ needs
Before joining private practice, Ms. Piquette worked for Environment and Climate Change Canada. Through this experience, she gained expertise in federal environmental law, particularly in the regulations governing environmental violations.
She advises her clients on matters related to environmental and municipal issues. Ms. Piquette also represents her clients before the courts and administrative tribunals. She has, in fact, worked on numerous cases involving nuisances, quarries and sand pits, the Commission de la protection du territoire agricole, waste management, contaminated soil, and wetlands and water bodies.
Known for her human touch and her ability to listen, Ms. Piquette stands out for her capacity to identify her clients’ needs, manage their expectations with rigor and transparency, and effectively guide them through their legal proceedings. She takes a pragmatic approach focused on concrete solutions when handling legal matters.
