Legal Assistant
A native of Centre-du-Québec, Marie-Pier Goyette Noël, Esq., focuses her practice on environmental and energy law. She advises businesses and organizations that need to move their projects forward in a complex or evolving regulatory environment, particularly when innovative projects, new technologies, or green initiatives come up against regulations that were not always designed with emerging realities in mind.

A skilled writer, she drafts legal opinions, regulatory analyses, and briefs for government departments and parliamentary committees. She also analyzes proposed legislation and regulations and advises her clients on government relations and lobbying to help shape public policy and the regulatory framework.

Ms. Goyette Noël also stands out for her ability to make complex legal and technical issues accessible to executives and boards of directors, as well as to professionals and teams on the ground. Her expertise includes environmental permits, contaminated sites, the circular economy and waste management, extended producer responsibility, GHGs and the carbon market, wetlands and water management, clean technologies, and energy sector regulation. Her practice also includes a significant focus on monitoring legislative, regulatory, and case law developments.

Before joining Cain Lamarre, Ms. Goyette Noël practiced as an attorney at the Régie de l’énergie du Québec, where she worked on regulatory and litigation matters. This experience gave her unique insight into how regulatory bodies operate and how public policies are translated into concrete regulatory requirements.
