Olivier Hamel
Lawyer, partner, trademark agent
Olivier Hamel has been practising business law at Cain Lamarre’s Quebec City office since 2016. His practice is focused on intellectual property, protection of personal information, and commercial and corporate law.
As a trademark agent registered with the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents (CPATA), he advises companies on how to protect their trademarks and comply with privacy laws in Quebec and Canada. In corporate and commercial law, he has been involved in various corporate transactions and reorganizations, as well as drafting contractual agreements and legal opinions for clients consisting mainly of private companies, Crown corporations, cooperatives and educational institutions. He also specializes in the field of not-for-profit corporations, and regularly offers training courses on the governance and amalgamation thereof.
Mr. Hamel holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Université Laval, and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs and International Relations from the same institution. During his studies at Université Laval, he worked as a research and teaching assistant for several members of the Centre d’études en droit économique (CÉDÉ) and was a page intern at the National Assembly of Quebec. Committed to his community, he has sat on the board of directors of the Fondation Maison Dauphine since 2024, was a member of the board of directors of the Société Protectrice des Animaux de Québec (SPA) from 2020-2021, and was a member of the legal committee of L’A-DROIT de Chaudière-Appalaches for ten years.
