Stéphane Lamarre

With more than 35 years of experience, Stéphane Lamarre is a leading lawyer in transportation law. He advises a wide range of road carriers and industry stakeholders and is regularly called upon to audit and to provide training to professional organisations.
Mr. Lamarre pleads cases before public agencies and various courts. Over the course of his career, he has advised clients on interprovincial and international transportation involving regulatory offences, civil and contractual liability, as well as complex road accident litigation with heavy vehicles.
He has successfully represented numerous transportation companies in road accident litigation involving heavy vehicles, negotiated complex international transport contracts, and assisted clients in obtaining permits and licenses across multiple jurisdictions.
As a lecturer and author, Mr. Lamarre has published several articles and reference works. He has also given lectures and taught courses on transportation regulations at the Université du Québec à Montréal and two public colleges. Mr. Lamarre remains actively involved in the industry, contributing to the professional development of transportation stakeholders.
He is the co-author of the only legal treatise on road transport in Quebec, titled L’encadrement légal du transport routier par véhicules lourds au Québec (The legal framework governing heavy vehicle road transportation in Quebec) and published by Wolters Kluwer.
Mr. Lamarre is consistently recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada, notably as Lawyer of the Year in 2023, 2024 and 2026, for his expertise in transportation law since 2013, by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory since 2014 and by Chambers and Partners since 2025.
