Cain Lamarre is looking for a Business Partner, Practice Group Management, to join our team.
PROFILE
Reporting to the Executive Management, Business and Performance, the Business Partner, Practice Group Management supports the overall performance of the firm’s practice sectors. In this role, the incumbent works closely with practice group leaders to implement strategic objectives related to the structuring of legal professionals by sector. Acting as a key reference point for activity coordination, project management, and resource optimization, this person contributes directly to the firm’s overall performance.
The successful candidate demonstrates strong rigour, excellent organizational skills, and a clear sense of priorities, enabling them to manage multiple files simultaneously. Versatile and highly committed to client service, they enjoy working collaboratively and contributing meaningfully to the success of the office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct support to practice group leaders
- Support each practice group leader in planning, organizing, and carrying out their management responsibilities
- Plan and organize sector-related activities (meetings, events, training sessions), including the follow up of action plans, indicators, and commitments
- Ensure consistency and effective dissemination of internal and external communications related to the sectors across the firm
Performance and Budget Management
- Support practice group leaders in monitoring utilization rates and key performance indicators
- Develop and maintain dashboards related to operational, financial, and human performance
- Analyze data, identify trends, and provide concrete recommendations to practice group leaders and executive management
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of sector budgets
- Ensure rigour in performance tracking processes (profitability, pricing, capacity)
Operational Management and Optimization of Practices
- Lead or coordinate strategic projects specific to the practice groups in collaboration with internal teams
- Establish timelines and ensure the monitoring of deliverables
- Support the practice groups in managing operational issues and the needs of professionals, including file management during arrivals and departures
SKILLS AND QUALITIES SOUGHT
- Bachelor’s degree in management, business administration, law, human resources, or any related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in practice management, operational management, internal business development, project management, or strategic advisory roles (experience in a professional services firm or complex organization is a significant asset)
- Understanding of the operations of a professional services firm and the dynamics specific to legal teams
- Strong analytical abilities and understanding of operational, financial, and human resource related issues
- Excellent coordination, project management, and initiative tracking skills
- Motivation and ability to work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong initiative, high level of engagement, and willingness to contribute beyond the formal responsibilities of the role
- Strong sense of priorities, rigour, autonomy, and proactivity
- Ability to translate strategic vision into operational management
