Cain Lamarre is looking for a legal assistant for its Montreal office to assist litigation professionals.
PROFILE
The successful candidate will stand out for their attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize, ensuring they can manage multiple files simultaneously. Resourceful and client-focused, they enjoy working as part of a team and virtually, and contributing significantly to the success of the firm and the litigation department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effectively coordinate file follow-ups, deadlines, and schedules;
- Do basic legal checks in different computer databases (SOQUIJ, REQ, land registry, etc.);
- Prepare and assist professionals in drafting correspondence and legal proceedings, agreements, and various legal documents;
- Assist in the process of opening, monitoring, updating, closing, and archiving of physical and electronic files;
- Compile and manage requests for documents from third parties;
- Review and index transcripts;
- Create and update document indexes;
- Prepare authority, procedure, and undertaking books;
- Prepare bill of costs;
- Organize and manage file documentation;
- Review and correct professionals’ invoices in collaboration with the invoice department;
- Assist professionals in preparing files and trials;
- Perform other related duties.
SKILLS AND QUALITIES SOUGHT
- Certificate of college studies or DVS in secretarial studies with legal attestation OR relevant work experience;
- Excellent mastery of French, both spoken and written;
- Good mastery of English, both spoken and written (regular English-speaking clients);
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Knowledge of Maître and/or Carpe Diem software (an asset);
- Highly developed customer service skills with good communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and friendly approach;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once;
- Attention to detail, thoroughness, and good team spirit.
