The Best Law Firms™ – Canada rankings, published annually by Best Lawyers, recognize law firms for the quality of their legal services at both the national and regional levels. Based in part on peer evaluations and client feedback, the rankings are divided into three tiers of recognition, with Tier 1 representing the highest distinction.
In the 2027 edition, released on October 29, 2026, Cain Lamarre earns 25 rankings across 17 practice areas, at both the national level and in the Montréal and Québec City regions. Of these, 14 rankings are Tier 1, representing a 27% increase over the previous year. More than half of the firm's rankings therefore fall within the highest tier.
National Rankings
Among the notable advancements, Commercial and Corporate Litigation moved from Tier 2 to Tier 1, joining Labour and Employment Law and Real Estate Law, which both maintained their top-tier positions. Tax Law earned its first national recognition, at Tier 3.
Regional Rankings
In the Montréal region, three practice areas advanced from Tier 2 to Tier 1: Commercial and Corporate Litigation, Tax Law, and Immigration Law. Aboriginal Law/Indigenous Practice also entered the regional rankings for the first time, at Tier 2.
In the Québec City region, Real Estate Law progressed from Tier 2 to Tier 1, while Mergers and Acquisitions Law moved from Tier 3 to Tier 2.
