Marc-Alexandre Poirier is a seasoned legal professional with over two decades of experience in corporate and commercial law. As a partner at Cain Lamarre LLP in Montreal, he leads the business law team, with a broad practice covering mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and general corporate and commercial law.

Mr. Poirier acts as a strategic advisor to executives and entrepreneurs, helping them resolve their most pressing and complex concerns. With significant experience in cross-border matters, he regularly represents clients from the United States, Europe, and other regions in establishing or acquiring businesses in Quebec. Leveraging his strong network of international connections, Mr. Poirier also assists Quebec-based businesses in expanding into the United States and overseas.

He frequently manages projects, negotiates, and closes transactions on behalf of clients. He also assists clients in setting up or reorganizing complex corporate structures. Additionally, he helps clients negotiate and draft a wide variety of commercial agreements, including service agreements, distribution agreements, supply agreements, and partnership agreements.

Mr. Poirier joined Cain Lamarre in 2021. Prior to that, he practiced at several leading firms in Montreal and Hong Kong and served as Chief Legal Officer for a Vancouver-based technology company.

He holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Université Laval. Throughout his academic and professional career, Mr. Poirier has received several awards and scholarships. He is also recognized for his contributions to legal scholarship, having authored several publications and delivered numerous conferences and presentations in the fields of business and corporate law.
